Bikeways innovatively integrate street bike lanes and street bike routes as well as off-road hike and bike trails to connect people, commerce and recreation. Bikeways also promote clean air and environmentally friendly mobilization. PATE's services include environmental impact studies and traffic engineering while utilizing internal resources such as survey, planning and construction to accelerate infrastructure development thus completing bikeway projects on time and within budget. CMAQ funding has spurred the design and construction of bikeways which are seen as quality of life improvements in the local community. Bikeways are designed in accordance with TxDOT criteria with routes to serve recreational and commuting purposes. Routes adjacent to major drainage channels can require hydraulic and hydrology analyses, scour analyses for bridge crossings, and grade constraints moving from upper bank to lower bank locations.
