Concentrated population growth impacts existing urban infrastructure. Public agencies face difficult decisions to rehabilitate, expand or create new wastewater collection, treatment and disposal systems. In addition to the physical need for growth, environmental impacts and community demands affect master-planning, economic considerations and schedules. PATE's experience in planning, designing and managing the construction of wastewater collection, pumping and treatment systems, as well as sludge processing and disposal systems, places PATE in a premier position to anticipate community concerns and regulatory requirements. Internal resources allow PATE to develop reliable implementation plans and coordinate client, community and regulatory involvement. Plants When addressing wastewater facilities, the end product measured by effluent quality dominates decision-making. PATE appreciates the intricacies of developing a system that delivers top-rated quality while attending to peripheral issues such as noise reduction, odor control and disposal of sludge. PATE's sensitivity to these issues, and PATE's experience with regulatory agencies and community involvement, lead to designs that fulfill function as well as offer opportunity for growth. Facilities that meet today's needs require appropriate design and infrastructure to meet tomorrow's demands. Collection Systems The hydraulic study of sanitary sewer systems is necessary to eliminate overflows and to provide capacity for future growth. PATE has been in the forefront of the design and construction management of trenchless systems using microtunneling techniques for smaller pipes and tunnel boring machines for larger pipe. PATE's sanitary tunneling experience has been employed as well, working for the Bangkok (Thailand) Metropolitan Authority on a design/build, $2 billion dollar collection system and treatment plant project.
