PATE provided inspection and design services for the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) tank evaluation projects for 1996-1997 and 1997-1998 contracts. The 96-97 projects involved the evaluation of two ground water storage tanks, with capacities of 5 million gallons and 7.5 million gallons, and one standpipe storage tank with a 270,000-gallon capacity. The 97-98 contracts involved three ground storage tanks ranging from 1 million to 5 million gallons and two elevated storage tanks each with a capacity of 1.5 million gallons. The project also included design of a bypass for one of the tanks serving a very small community so that service will not be interrupted. In both projects the coatings containing high lead-based paints, required careful inspection, evaluation and rehabilitation measures for stripping and re-coating. Today the project list continues to grow including a concrete storage tank with a 2.2 million gallons capacity. Copyright © 2008 Pate Engineers, Inc. |
